Small sized wind power generation is a renewable energy that Internat Energy Solutions (IES) has began to implement in some small projects.  Typically, IES deals with wind turbines that are of a rated power of 20 KW or less.  These turbines can be used as stand alone units in remote locations or connected with the grid in the same manner as photovoltaic systems.   Unlike solar energy which is dictated by solar radiation during the day, wind has a variable output that can be exploited night and day, irrelevant of solar radiation.  It is important that the wind turbine selected matches the wind speeds of the location for which it is used. 

Ontario has a wind industry that is growing rapidly with major installations located around the province including some of the largest in the country.  Although IES is focused on projects with small relative capacity, our engineering analysis services can be used in the feasibility stage to determine wind energy potential of large installations.  These studies are usually a year or more in length but ensure the investment in wind energy is done correctly.  Even though average wind speeds for many locations are available from various sources, local conditions can make significant changes to the wind potential and a complete study is recommended before construction to ensure desired results are achievable.
