Micro Hydro has shown to be effective in projects of remote residence location.  With near by water streams, micro hydro could supply all the energy needs for a building or compensate a photovoltaic/wind source.  Many times these stream or water falls are seasonal and so another source of energy is needed.  Depending on the location of installation, the winter months can provide a higher flow of water that coincides with the shorter hours of sun light.  As a result, the projects that IES has experience are in combination with photovoltaic power.
